We’re already mid-way through January and for some most of us, the New Year Resolutions have long gone out the window. But that doesn’t mean you should ditch them all together. Here at Bellamianta, we firmly believe that resolutions should make us feel better. It’s all about simple steps with mega benefits! With this in mind, we’ve put together 10 beauty inspired resolutions, which will help you feel and look a million dollars this January!
1. Clean your make-up brushes
Hands up how many of us are guilty of not cleaning our make-up brushes?! You just have to head to your favourite Insta blogger’s account to hear them preaching the importance of regularly cleaning your brushes. It’s time to get on board with this Bella Babes! Not only can dirty brushes make for a less flawless application, these are laden with hidden germs and bacteria, which can make our skin more prone to breakouts. Ouch!
2. Care for your colour
While we love our bi-monthly trip to the salon for a pop of fresh hair colour, we’re always keen to keep that ‘just stepped out of a salon’ feeling alive. With this in mind, it’s time to care for your luscious locks, ladies. If it’s not already part of your routine, make sure you use a heat protective spray before styling with heat. It’s also a good idea to use a weekly conditioning treatment to keep your colour in tip top condition. You’ll definitely bag brownie points from your hairdresser for this one.
3. Experiment a little
It can be easy to fall into a rut of creating the same makeup look day after day. If you find yourself wanting to experiment more, we say… go for it! Whether it’s trying a daring new shade of lippy or perfecting winged liner, you won’t know until you’ve tried it.
4. Indulge in some me time
The perfect way to check in with yourself and clear your head, we can’t preach the wonders of some me-time enough. Whether you take yourself off to your favourite room for 10-minutes to paint your nails, or book a facial at your favourite spa, we are definitely all over this one.
5. Don't go to bed with your make-up on
Just don’t do it! Can we also ditch the make-up wipes?! Not good for the environment or your skin. Give your skin a proper cleanse, tone and moisturise every night!
6. Out with the old
While you’re hinching your house, hinch your make-up bag too. Ditch anything which is past its sell by date. As a rough guide, keep this in mind:
- Eyeliner: 6 months - 1 year
- Mascara: 3-5 months
- Powder cosmetics: 1-2 years
- Foundation: 6 months – 2 years

7. Drink more water
